About Me

I started family research more seriously in 2004, but I always enjoyed Social History and Research projects. I currently reside in Cumbria. During the years of research I've seen many changes from handling original documents to Microfiche and Microfilm and now digital records. I've worked in a library setting for more than seven years and during this time I have been involved in running Ancestry and Find My Past groups and worked one to one helping many people to start their own journeys.

I have worked in a Local Studies library in an area in Cumbria, but also have vast experience in many other libraries as well. I cover Cumbria, Scotland and Yorkshire areas primarily, but have had experience of using the British Library and Asian/Indian records for those who originated from the UK. I have also completed some research in Ireland in Dublin.

My qualifications include;

A BA(Hons) in Health Studies but as part of my degree, I did research methods and Epidemiology, I then went on to complete my PGCE so that I could be a Lecturer at the local college.

I have completed several Genealogy Family History courses along the way and keep up to date with changes as the happen
